Discernment - The 6 Types of Working Genius
Patrick Lencioni in his video "Discernment - The 6 Types of Working Genius" says that genius of discernment is not an easy thing to describe because this is not something that happens on the outside and it is not a technical skill that you can see. Discernment is really about judgment, instinct and intuition, and people with the genius of discernment make good judgements in ways that are hard to explain. It is critical for a team because the person with the genius of invention is going to come up with an idea and the person with the genius of discernment is going to help them vet that idea to make it workable on the ground. The genius of discernment is a critical path in any project, program and activity. Therefore, you should make people understand that this is your genius because people may not necessarily see that readily. However, there are times when we need to keep our geniuses aside because this is not what the team, project, and the organization requires at that point in time.
