Core Values vs. Permission to Play Values

According to Patrick, core values are the most important. Core value is inherent and you don't make it up and hope for it. It's something that's already there. Core value is something we believe, we look at while we make decisions and what we promise. However, the problem is that there are other values that get in the way and confuse things and dilute the meaning of the core values. These other values are called “permission to play” and these are minimum standards of behavior that are important but they don't differentiate you. Therefore, core values are values that gonna make you different and an organization is prepared to take great costs for its core values. Core values are integral to what an organization is and an organization will not abandon its core value for any monetary benefit.
