Brene Brown in the video "3 Things You Can Do to Stop a Shame Spiral" says that men and women who had high levels of shame resilience, meaning, they could totally acknowledge and move through shame without jeopardizing their authenticity had four things in common.
First, they know what triggers shame for them, they know what the triggers are.
Second, you can reality check them.
Third, they reach out and share their story.
Fourth, they speak shame.
If you boil it down, it's three totally counterintuitive things,
Shame cannot survive being spoken, it needs three things to grow exponentially secrecy, silence, and judgment. The antidote is empathy, it cannot survive being spoken and being met with empathy.
