Tips for making better slideshows for effective classroom teaching

Ever since the advent of technology in classrooms, teachers have started using slideshows to convey important concepts to students. Therefore, creating effective presentations for use in classroom teaching is very important skill for teachers. Some of the tips to create good presentations are:

1. Use concise and crisp language to talk about concepts in the slides. Provide students descriptive handouts so that they can read at their own pace. If presentation has heavy text, students will focus on reading and copying content rather than listening to you. Prioritise the aspects of the concepts that are most important on the slides.

2. Don’t read aloud the slides but explain the concept that you are trying to teach.

3. Highlight keywords on the slides to ensure that students pay attention to them.

4. Don’t use too bright colors or too many animation as this can distract the students. Also, avoid fancy fonts.

5. Use contrasting colors of text and background as it will helps learners to read and understand the slides better.

6. Share your slides with students after the class so that they don’t waste time copying the content.

7. Use charts and diagrams to convey concepts wherever possible. This will help students understand your ideas better.
